Following the stage collapse that killed 38-year-old drum technician Scott Johnson and injured three others, Radiohead have announced that they'll be postponing several upcoming European tour dates.
In a statement released Thursday, the band revealed that the collapse destroyed their intricate light show and it will take many weeks to replace it. "The collapse also caused serious damage to our backline," the band said, "Some elements of which are decades old and therefore hard to replace." Radiohead will begin performing live again on July 10 at Les Arenes Nimes in France. See which shows are being postponed on Radiohead's website.
The tragic Toronto collapse is currently undergoing an investigation by the Canadian Ministry of Labour, the Toronto Star reports. Four companies—Radiohead's own Ticker Tape Touring LLP, Toronto-based Optex Staging and Services, Nasco Staffing Solutions and concert promoter Live Nation—have been named responsible for the incident, but Ministry spokesperson Matt Blajer says orders have been issued “mainly to Live Nation.”
